I’ve been tagged by Deb over at Diet Schmiet – to share a few random facts, answer a few questions, and best of all, ask a few. Sometimes it’s nice to know some nonsense behind the blog.
Here are the rules:
1. post these rules.
2. you must post 11 random things yourself.
3. answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post.
4. create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.
5. go to their blog and tell them that you’ve tagged them.
6. no stuff in the tagging
7. don’t talk about the fightclub
OK, here goes – 11 Random Things About Me
1. I’ve suffered a compression fracture of the tibia, as a result of a snowboarding accident
2. I have spent time in Canada, touring around and eating way too many “Aunt Jemima’s” pancakes topped with maple syrup.
3. My first dog was “Jack” who was a border collie cross. I think this is a highly doubtful description of his heritage as he used to behave much like a German Pointer.
4. I’m also a cat lover and had a beautiful Burmese, “Secret” who used to go everywhere with me.
5. Keeping the “pet” theme going, I am a huge fan of the “Pet Shop Boys” – my favourite album is “Very” – “Remember when we were more easily led, behind the cricket pavillion and the bicycle shed?”
6. My first car was a Ford Laser, circa 1982 and like Deb, it had a name – “Jessica” or Jessi-car, if you were being mechanically correct.
7. Originally I was going to study to become a Vet as James Herriot was without question my favourite author in my teen years. Today I know that there is no problem labrador eyes won’t solve.
8. I’ve moved house a total of 11 times in 11 years.
9. Spent a lot of time being a bit miffed that my parents wouldn’t let me see KISS in concert. My favourite of the four was Ace Frehley in the spacesuit. Recently I read Ace’s autobiography and how he overcame his self destructive lifestyle.
10. I’m a morning person
11. I’ve cycled around NZ (South Island)
Here are Deb’s questions (and my answers)
- What’s the worst hairstyle you’ve ever had? This is an easy one – I had a perm when I was at University – then the day after, had my appendix out. The anaesthetic did something strange to my curls – more like kinks actually.
- What was the best concert, show or event you’ve attended? I’ve got to put my hand up for Bryan Adams again – awesome in concert.
- What exercise do you love to hate? This one is easy – Bodypump. I’d rather have my teeth pulled.
- What’s your favourite movie of all time? Gosh, don’t think there’s only one – but memorable ones for me are “The Usual Suspects” , “American Beauty” and the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
- If you were given an opportunity to go on a date with anyone famous, who would you choose? (It’s up to you if you want to take this one further….) Not sure on this one
- What do you hate most about blogging? That some bloggers misconstrue passionate discussion and discourse as a personal attack. This experience happened to me last year – I posted my opinion about why I was bothered by the intuitive eating and bodybuilding factions and was promptly de-friended by said “friend”, which was puzzling to say the least. However, the whole episode solidified my ideal that strong opinions aren’t necessarily a bad thing and can be potentially lifesaving.
- Twitter or Facebook? And why? I’m really enjoying Twitter right now – but am becoming less interested in social media lately.
- What is your dream job? (And, is it at all feasible in reality?) Travel writer. Probably not feasible so will have to try and work on the two separately.
- If you could go back to an earlier point of your life, when would you choose, and why? Early 20s – I had the opportunity to buy a house and I didn’t.
- Free weights or machines? Or both? Free weights. The only gym machine I use is the lat pulldown and I’m slowly replacing that with pull ups!
- Favourite healthy snacks? Lots – but at the moment enjoying a post workout snack of sliced nectarines and Greek yoghurt.
Here are my 11 questions:
1) Morning or evening person
2) How long does it take you to get ready in the mornings?
3) What’s your weekly grocery bill?
4) How much of your grocery bill is whole foods?
5) Your opinion of daylight savings?
6) Mac or PC?
7) Grab your IPOD and hit “shuffle” – what’s the first song that comes up? Is it a favourite or so so?
8) Your favourite blog of the moment?
9) Favourite pizza topping?
10) Proudest moment lately?
11) Your favourite physical activity?

LOL. Thanks for that. I’ll have to get the ol’ brain functioning later….
You won’t be stuck for a blog at least one day this week!
I bloody AM stuck… “11 random things”? I’ve done so many of these things that I’m out of ideas. LOL
You can do this
Thanks for tagging me, Liz. I will try to respond tomorrow!
Look forward to it!
This was great fun to read
I didn’t know a lot of those things – although I’m rather thrilled I’m not the only one who hates BodyPump and am in awe of your NZ cycling. I’d love to do that.
Hi Kari, we should form our own “Bodypump” loathing posse! I’m happy though that other people enjoy it, but it’s not my cup of tea.
Loved reading all of those things about you. Who knew?!?! (Well, other than you, I guess!) I’m intrigued by the anaesthetic and perm thing… wonder if that’s common!
Funny also that everyone hates some different type of exercise – which I’m learning reading others’ answers!
Deb
Hi Deb, yes, no one likes everything – thank goodness there’s such a huge variety of “stuff” to choose from!
Thanks for sharing; interesting stuff! sorry-I’m not playing though… I’m just not that interesting to come up with 11 random things…lol-and don’t have anyone to tag since I hardly read any other blogs these days.
thanks for thinking of me though!
I’m really going to have to get my thinking cap on …. 11 random facts, hmmmm ….
BTW I hear you with regard to Body Pump – not my thing at all.
Done!…it seems between you, Deb and I we frequent the same Blogs, so I’ve just left it open for anyone who’d like to join in…it may be the end of the line, though
Great fun! xo
